He was in a fat suit so obviously toby was able to lose weight. And ive seen kate lose weight, its just not as noticeable as kates because chrissy cant magically switch into a new body. On this is us, chrissy metz plays kate, an overweight character who struggles with weight loss, size discrimination, and serious emotional issues that are, in part, responsible for her. Someone shared earlier that hannah (the actress playing kate) lost weight for her type 1 diabetes so i think to compensate they put her in a fat suit just like the actor who plays toby. Her teen actress actually wears a fat suit in some of the flashback scenes.
I somewhat remember her saying she only ate baby carrots before jacks death. When the show debuted, there was rumor that kates character was supposed to lose weight, now toby has lost the weight and she is still morbidly obese. Did the actor renege.
